InfraSpace
InfraSpace is a city builder strategy game in which our task is to erect a self-sufficient metropolis on an alien planet from scratch. The title was developed by independent studio Dionic Software.
Mechanics
In InfraSpace the action is observed from a bird's eye view. At first glance, the production does not differ too much from what we are accustomed to in other positions devoted to building cities. During the game we are primarily engaged in mining raw materials, producing various goods and erecting various buildings. Although initially our extraterrestrial city is inhabited mainly by astronauts, with time it begins to host, among others, engineers and scientists and their families. If the metropolis is to grow, we must think not only about meeting the basic needs of its residents, but also about meeting their other requirements, if only by providing them with access to education and entertainment.
What sets this project apart from most other productions of this type are the extensive logistics issues, reminiscent of the Mini Motorways game. As each raw material must be transported from the place of extraction to the factory, and each finished product must be delivered from the place of production to the habitat, the roads we have mapped out quickly begin to swarm with vehicles. In order to avoid congestion and take care of the flow of resources and goods, we need to constantly expand the network of roads and highways, and create ever larger and more complicated intersections.
